Rygel, a home media solution (UPnP AV MediaServer) that allows users to easily share audio, video, and pictures to other devices, has been upgraded to version 0.26.1 and is now ready for download.

There aren't too many solutions like Rygel on the Linux platform. It's part of the GNOME stack, but it doesn't follow the same release cycle, and it can run in other environments as well. Users can browse and play the media collection from a smart TV or PS3 on a PC running GNOME or a number of other desktop environments.

According to the changelog, the underlinking of RUIH library has been fixed, a critical warning has been prevented, Kodi is now a variant of XBMC in hacks, a crash that occurred when thumbnails were missing has been fixed, time-based seeking through GStreamer has been corrected, the resource duration handling for transcoded resources has been fixed, and number bugs have been corrected.

Check out the official changelog for a complete list of updates and new features. You can download Rygel 0.26.1 right now from Softpedia, but this is just the source package, and you will need to compile it. If you want to use this application right now, you will have to check the local repositories.
