Crytek is a company recognized for the quality of its graphics engine and it seems that the developers intend to port their engine to the Linux platform.

With the exception of Metro: Last Light, a first-person shooter developed by 4A Games, which is now the ultimate standard for graphics quality on the Linux platform, nothing really holds a candle to the titles developed for Windows.

The accession of Steam for Linux in the last year is making a real difference, and Crytek might have noticed it. Their SDK has been updated with Linux support, although this is pretty much everything we know about it.

There is a number of games that run on the engine developed by Crytek, including the superb Star Citizen. It might get some Linux support, and other developers could notice and port their own games.
