Linux gamers should expect Total War ports very soon

Creative Assembly, the developers of the Total War series, have confirmed that they intend to fully support SteamOS, which means that Linux versions of their more recent games might appear at any moment.

Images from a Total War game have been used by Valve to promote their SteamOS announcement and it seems that the rumors are true. The developers do plan to support the new operating system from Valve.

“We port to Mac already, so we’re kind of used to porting Total War to other OSes – or at least our partners at Feral who do that Mac work for us, that’s certainly something we’re very familiar with.”

“We’ve certainly got no worries about Linux as a platform, and as you know, we’ve appeared on the SteamOS page, and our intention is absolutely to support the OS,” said Rob Bartholomew for PCGamesN in an interview.

The games are already working on another platform, Mac OS X, so it shouldn’t be too hard to make them available for Linux in a reasonable amount of time.
