SoundKonverter, a frontend to various audio converters that can be used for different tasks, including CD ripping, has finally reached version 2.1.1.

SoundKonverter supports a large number of formats, such as flac, mp3, m4a, wma, ac3, and many others. If the user tries to convert a file that is not supported, the application will inform them which backend needs installation.

The developers of SoundKonverter have been adding small changes and features in the past few months, and now a stable version is out with everything integrated. For example, the application will now check for MP4 support in faac, the vorbisgain command will no longer be used more than once per each directory, the progress bar no longer jumps when the conversion has been completed, and full GUI support has been added for album artist tags, including for the CD ripper.

The developers provide binaries for every major Linux distribution out there, so you won't be forced to compile the application. If you do decide to use the source, you need to remember that it comes with a large number of dependencies and that it might take a while to install them all.

Check out the official announcement for a complete list of updates, changes, and new features. You can download SoundKonverter 2.1.1 right now from Softpedia.
