Convirture proudly announced on November 21st, on a press release, that its virtualization and cloud management software, ConVirt, is now certified to run on popular open source operating systems, like Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE and CentOS.

Starting with November 21st, 2011 ConVirt can also be used on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0, CentOS 6.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1.

The new version of ConVirt also adds management support for the Amazon EC2, OpenStack 1.0 and Eucalyptus 2.0.2 cloud services.

"We are continuing to add functionality and platform support to our products so that IT managers have complete confidence in choosing to build new virtualized environment, or replace existing proprietary and expensive installations, with open source."

"Adding certification for the most widely used operating systems and cloud providers makes the decision to use open source that much easier." - said Arsalan Farooq, CEO of Convirture in the press release.

ConVirt is used by small businesses and enterprises to easily manage virtual and cloud environments based on the Xen and KVM hypervisors. A free trial of ConVirt Enterprise Cloud is now available at convirture.com.
