On May 20, Steven Shiau announced the immediate availability for download and testing of a new development version of his popular Clonezilla Live CD that helps users with disk cloning operations.

Clonezilla Live 2.4.2-3 is now the latest development version of the Clonezilla Live project, and it is based on the upstream Debian Sid software repositories as of May 19, 2015. However, the most significant change is the upgrade to Linux kernel 4.0.2.

Additionally, the two core components of the Clonezilla Live distro were updated as well. The DRBL (Diskless Remote Boot in Linux) package was updated to version 2.15.4, and the Clonezilla utility to version 3.16.1.

"The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2015/May/19)," says Steven Shiau. "Package drbl was updated to 2.15.4-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.16.1-drbl1. Linux kernel was updated to 4.0.2-1."

As usual, you can download Clonezilla Live 2.4.2-3 right now via Softpedia, but keep in mind that this is a pre-release version that contains unresolved issues. Thus, it is not recommended to be used in production environments where stability is of the essence.
