Karanbir Singh has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of 64-bit (x86_64) images for the Vagrant open-source and cross-platform virtual development environment creation software.

The Vagrant Box edition of CentOS 7 Linux consists of a minimal set of packages aimed at installing a barebone CentOS server on virtual environments. It includes the same amount of tools and libraries that can be found in the Minimal and Cloud images of the acclaimed server-oriented distribution.

"We are pleased to announce the immediate availability for CentOS Linux 7 x86_64 images for Vagrant," says Karanbir Singh. "This image represents a minimal install set, that lines up with the user expectation for our Cloud Images, our ISO based Minimal installer and the default minimal install profile from the in-distro install options."

The CentOS 7 x86_64 Vagrant Box images are now available for the Oracle VirtualBox and LibVirt virtualization software, but CentOS developers promise to deliver support for more providers in the very near future. Additionally, the Vagrant images of CentOS 7 Linux are also available on the Vagrant Cloud and Atlas services and can be accessed at https://atlas.hashicorp.com/centos/boxes/7.
