The latest version of Cantata can be downloaded from Softpedia

Cantata, a client for the music player daemon (MPD) that originally started as a fork of QtMPC, is now at version 1.4.0.

Cantata 1.4.0 can be compiled with KDE support or as a pure Qt4 application. It's been a few months since the previous release and quite a few changes have been made in the meantime.

According to the changelog, an external helper app is now being used to read/write tags, Cantata is now isolated from TagLib crashes, the auto-scroll for lyrics is now working correctly, the option to auto-switch to the context view has been implemented, the toolbar has been reorganized, and comment tag support has been added the for tag-editor and dynamic playlists.

Also, the menubar usage of the current DE is now respected, the memory used by the covers has been reduced, artists and albums with new tracks are now shown in bold, a touch-friendly option that increases the buttons has been implemented, the streams are now stored in the “[Radio Streams]” MPD playlist, the streams are now searched through dirble, and the supplied stream providers have been reduced to IceCast, ShoutCast, Drible, and TuneIn.
