Upstart, an event-based replacement for the /sbin/init daemon which handles the starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them during shutdown, and supervising them while the system is running, is now at version 1.11.

Upstart was initially developed to work only with the Ubuntu distribution, but it was later modified to work with all Linux distributions and to take the place of System-V init.

Highlights of Upstart 1.11:

• A “--no-dbus” command-line option has been added for the init(8) daemon (allowing the event propagation to the Session Init via the upstart-event-bridge(8) to be disabled); • Watching for directory creation is now allowed; • Arbitrary numbers of pairs and additional checks are now handled on input validity; • The Session Init shutdown speed has been improved; • The new configure options “--disable-local-bridge” and “--disable-socket-bridge” have been added.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. Download Upstart 1.11 right now from Softpedia.
