Upstart, an event-based replacement for the /sbin/init daemon which handles the starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them during shutdown and supervising them while the system is running, is now at version 1.10.

Upstart was initially developed to work only with the Ubuntu distribution, but it was later modified to work with all Linux distributions and to take the place of System-V init.

Highlights of Upstart 1.10:

• A new bridge for starting jobs on local socket connections has been implemented; • A new bridge for Session Inits has been added; • A new a '--bus-name' option has been added in order to allow the bus name variable to be included in dbus-event(7); • A new "reload signal" stanza has been implemented in order to allow jobs to specify a custom signal; • A shutdown fix for Session Inits has been added.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. Download Upstart 1.10 right now from Softpedia.
