Canonical announced a few minutes ago, December 3, that an update for the Linux kernel package in its Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) operating system was available for download, fixing three security vulnerabilities discovered in the upstream Linux kernel packages by various developers.

The first one was a flaw discovered in the Linux kernel's dm snapshot facility, which could allow a remote authenticated user to obtain sensitive information, as well as to corrupt or modify data; the second one was a flaw in the IPv6 SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) of the Linux kernel, which could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information; and the third one was a flaw in the Linux kernel's handling of IPv6 UDP Fragmentation Offload (UFO) processing, which could allow a remote attacker to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) attack.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the linux-image-3.8.0-34-generic (3.8.0-34.49) package(s). To apply the update, run the Update Manager application or follow the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Security/Upgrades. Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!
