Canonical is hard at work on Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) and they've just released a small communique about the Unity progress made in the new operating system.

Canonical plans to improve Unity for Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander), and their efforts can be easily seen in the changes they've implemented so far.

Unity will eventually work the same on all platforms, albeit desktop or Ubuntu Touch. Some of the changes for Unity are actually for the Phone part.

Highlights of the latest Unity updates:

• 13.04 scopes have finally landed in Saucy; • The scopes infrastructure has been prepared to be able to run multiple scopes within one process; • The sound widgets have been finished; • The MPs have been prepared for datetime, session and power indicator; • All the outstanding patches for new notification backend have landed.

A complete list of improvement for Unity can be seen in the announcement.
