After a bogus Calligra 2.9.3 release, the developers of the number one open source office suite for the KDE desktop environment released Calligra 2.9.4, which brings multiple improvements to the popular Krita digital painting software.

While there's no official announcement for Calligra 2.9.4, the Krita development team took the first step in announcing what has been changed in Krita 2.9.4, which is included in the latest version of Calligra.

According to the release notes, Krita 2.9.4 greatly improves the startup speed, brings major speed improvements to the application when using the transform masks, and its Breeze theme is now supported on other open source desktop environments than KDE.

Among the bugs fixed in Krita 2.9.4, we can mention a crash that occurred when creating a pattern filled shape if the user did not select a pattern, loading of floating point TIFF files, as well as loading of tags for resources from installed bundles.

Additionally, the specific color selector has been repaired so it no longer grows to large, the app now ships with default tags for Krita's resources, the last chosen tag is now remembered in the resource selectors, and the "All presets" issue in the brush tip selector's filter has been fixed.
