FrostWire 5.7.5, a BitTorrent client (formerly a Gnutella client) that’s the result of a collaborative effort of hundreds of open source and freelance developers, has been released and integrates a major upgrade.

The Frostwire client can be used to send large files and folders. It features BitTorrent and Magnet Link support and is Kindle-compatible, but these are just a few of the features that users can find.

One of the main issues with the software is that it's based on Java, which means that it might be slow on some systems. Now, the devs have decided to switch to Java 8, so the application should work much better.

According to the changelog, the mp4 parser has been improved, the cloud search results are now much better, the player control layout issues that occurred when resizing the main window have been fixed, the soundcloud url track/set downloads has been fixed, and various possible cloud download errors have been corrected.

If you want to install the application right away or if you just want to update it, all you have to do is to enter these commands in a terminal (you will need to be root):

sudo wget http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5.7.5/frostwire-5.7.5.all.deb sudo dpkg -i frostwire-5.7.5.all.deb sudo apt-get install -f

Check out the official changelog for a complete list of changes and updates. You can also download FrostWire 5.7.5 right now from Softpedia.
