That killer game won't be Battlefield 4, but some other unknown future title

A developer from DICE, the studio responsible for Battlefield 4, thinks that Linux only needs one great game in order to take off the ground as a powerful gaming alternative.

Besides Valve who has posted most of its catalog on Steam for Linux and a couple of smaller developers, no other major studio had the courage and the money to bring a triple A title to Linux.

Lars Gustavsson, DICE creative director and one of the guys responsible for the Battlefield series, is now saying that Linux would only need one game in order to become great.

"We strongly want to get into Linux for a reason. It took Halo for the first Xbox to kick off and go crazy — usually, it takes one killer app or game and then people are more than willing [to adopt it] — it is not hard to get your hands on Linux, for example, it only takes one game that motivates you to go there" said Lars Gustavsson for Polygon.

He didn't say that Battlefield 4 was that game, and it won't hit SteamOS too soon, but he might be referring to the next release in the Half-Life series that will most likely be an exclusive on Valve's new operating system.
