BattleBlock Theater, a 2D action platformer developed and published by The Behemoth studio, will be released on Steam for Linux.

BattleBlock Theater is not your average 2D platformer and the developers are close to a final release, although the “sometime soon” announcement on the Steam website is rather cryptic.

“Shipwrecked. Captured. Betrayed. Forced to perform for an audience of cats? Yes, all that and more when you unlock BattleBlock Theater! There’s no turning back once you've started on your quest to free over 300 of your imprisoned friends from evil technological cats,” reads the synopsis. And this is just a small sample of the insanity that seems to govern this game.

The Linux system requirements haven’t been posted yet, but you should have at least a 3.3 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, a video card with 512 MB of VRAM, and 2 GB of available HDD space.

The information about the Linux version is taken from the Steam database and by no means is it completely certain. The Steam Database is a record of data that describes every Steam game and subscription provided by Valve for the Steam service.

Usually, the new entries are first visible in the Steam Database before their official launch.

More details about BattleBlock Theater can be found on the official Steam website.
