Clonezilla Live, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that allows users to do bare metal backup and recovery, is now at version 2.3.2-2. Users should be able to download it and test it.

As testing versions go, this latest Clonezilla release is quite a big one. Usually, there are just a small number of changes in each version, but this one is pretty big.

“The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/Dec/30),” reads the official announcement.

Some of the most important packages have been upgraded. For example, Partclone has been updated to version 0.2.75, the Btrfs features have been improved, an encryption mechanism has been implemented, and a few bug fixes have been corrected.

Clonezilla Live is a Linux distribution that does only one thing: bare metal backup and recovery. It's very similar to other, older pieces of cloning software, such as True Image or Norton Ghost.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.3.2-2 right now from Softpedia. Please keep in mind that this distro doesn't have a desktop environment and that users might need some time to learn all of its options.
