Astro Emporia is a new turn-based strategy title developed and published on Steam by Squirrelbot Games. A Linux version was made available right from the start by the makers of this rather interesting RTS.

Linux gamers already have quite a few RTS games to choose from, but Astro Emporia wants to be a little different from the rest by making the goal of the game really simple, to earn as much money as possible in the time given. It's not about conquering other worlds or battling ancient enemies. It's about the oldest motive in the book, money.

"The game is designed to play a game in a few minutes which at the end you will get a high score. While the amount you buy and sell for and the resource availability is randomised each time you visit a planet, there are tactics that enable you to increase your chances at getting a profit," is noted in the Steam synopsis for Astro Emporia.

The system requirements for the game are pretty low and all users should be able to run it. All you need is an Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (probably other distros are supported as well), 512 MB of RAM, and just 150 MB of free HDD space.

Astro Emporia also comes with a 15% discount that is scheduled to end on February 9.
