David Tavares, the French developer behind the jaw-dropping Pear OS Linux operating system is proud to announce today, January 3rd, the immediate availability for download and testing of the first Alpha version of Pear OS Linux Debian Edition.

Pear OS Linux Debian Edition is an operating system based on the Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.3 (Squeeze) distribution, and it's powered by Linux kernel 2.6.32. It features the GNOME 2.30 desktop environment, customized to look as a Mac OS desktop.

Just like Pear OS 3.0, this edition also includes The Pear Appstore to help you easily find and install applications on your system, allowing app browsing by category and quick search, and offering user reviews, screenshots and developer descriptions.

Download Pear OS Linux Debian Edition Alpha 1 right now from Softpedia. Also, you can download the original Ubuntu-based Pear OS Linux 3.0 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is an alpha release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
