Most notebooks can now run the OS in the native resolution

Android-x86, a project that aims to port the famous Android open source project to the x86 architecture, formerly known as "patch hosting for android x86 support", has announced that version 4.0 RC1 is available for download.

Android-x86 4.0 RC1 is based on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and brings all the specific bugfixes of the aforementioned OS.

The developers have added x86 specified code to let the system run smoothly on x86 platforms, on most netbooks and tablets.

Highlights of Android-x86 4.0 RC1:

· Linux kernel 3.0.8 with KMS enabled was implemented so that most netbooks can run Android-x86 in the native resolution; · AMD Radeon and Intel chipsets now have OpenGL hardware acceleration; · Multi-touch support, Wi-Fi, Audio, G-sensor, Bluetooth and Camera; · Experimental support of Renderscript was added; · Hybrid mode of ISO images is available; · Compressed filesystem (squashfs).
