The Alpine Team has just announced that Alpine Linux 2.6.5, a community-developed operating system designed for x86 Routers, Firewalls, VPNs, VoIP and servers, is now available for download.

Alpine Linux 2.6.5 has received a huge number of changes and new features, and one of the most important is the implementation of a new Linux kernel, 3.10.13.

A number of important applications have been updated such as phpmyadmin 4.0.7, Roundcube Mail 0.9.4, subversion 1.7.13, and MySQL 5.5.34.

Other major changes include various updates and fixes. For example, a fix has been implemented in order to allow prematurely script execution under certain conditions, and another fix has been added for memory map on PIE executables.
