Zbigniew Konojacki has informed Softpedia today about the availability of the Beta release of his upcoming 4MRecover 18.0 data recovery Live CD distrolette, which is now ready for public testing.

Based, of course, on the 4MLinux 18.0 operating system, which is also in heavy development these days, with a Beta build out the door last week, the 4MRecover 18.0 Beta Live CD packs the latest versions of the TestDisk 7.0 and PhotoRec 7.0 utilities for recovering lost data from damaged disk drives and SD cards.

Users need to be aware of the fact that 4MRecover is not a GNU/Linux operating system per se, and that's why we call it a distrolette - because it's a small Live CD distro that was built around various data recovery tools, including the ones mentioned above.

4MRecover is currently distributed as part of a bigger project, 4MRescueKit, which also includes the 4MParted partition editor Live CD. The 4MRecover Live CD comes with the Midnight Commander file manager installed by default and uses PhotoRec to help users recover photos from damaged disks and the TestDisk software for recovering lost partitions and undeleting lost files.

4MRecover 18.0 Beta is available for download right now via our website, where it is being distributed for free as Live ISO images, which you can write on a USB flash drive or a CD disc and use it on any computer, no matter the operating system installed. More details can be found on the project's website.
