4MLinux developer and founder Zbigniew Konojacki‏ is informing Softpedia today about the release and immediate availability for download of the Beta version of the upcoming 4MParted 22.0 open-source disk partitioning live OS.

4MParted is a freely distributed live system that users can deploy on a USB flash drive or CD/DVD disc and use it independently of the operating system installed on a personal computer to manipulate partitions. The Beta release of the upcoming 4MParted 22.0 version is based on 4MLinux 22.0 and Gparted 0.28.1.

"4MParted is a very small live CD designed for disk partitioning. It's a part of 4MRescueKit, which in turn is one of the three main 4MLinux releases available for download," said Zbigniew Konojacki‏ in the brief release announcement. "This version includes GParted 0.28.1 and it uses 4MLinux 22.0 as the base system."

Being based on the GParted open-source partition editor program, 4MParted inherits all of its features, allowing users to format, merge, split, resize, or delete partitions of all kinds. Supported filesystems include EXT4, EXT3, EXT2, XFS, ReiserFS, Reiser4, HFS, HFS+, NTFS, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and much more.

If you're interested in testing out the 4MParted 22.0 Beta release, you can download the Live ISO image right now from our website, write it on an empty USB stick or a CD/DVD disc, and boot it from the computer where you want to modify disk partitions. However, please don't use this Beta version for production work!
